Panarea
Pedrali - 2020

The laborious shape.

A woven artifact always generates a sense of reverence and respect for work as dedication.
Evoking the countryside, a coastal landscape, peaks, it brings objects back to theirs archaic familiarity.
At first glance, we recognize its usefulness, its right shape, combined with the complexity
of a discreet, not shown off handwork. The noble origin of Panarea lies in the laborious art of weaving: the oldest craftsmanship technique in the world.

New Weave.

The chairs of the Panarea collection are made of a metal tubular frame on which rope, woven in large meshes, creates a wide and welcoming backrest.
The triangular pattern of the weave was developed as an evolution of a traditional one, with the aim of minimizing the number of horizontal passes required to obtain a double-curved surface.

The lightness of the object suggests a summer fabric, the refreshing breeze of a dinner in the open air. These chairs are stackable and can easily be lifted by the armrests.
The seat cushion is covered with a fabric designed and made with the same yarn as the rope.

The light time.

The strength of the Panarea collection is lightness. Lightness of the object, but also lightness of the time it inspires. Preciousness, typical of the slow manual skills that have woven it, also charaterizes the time spent relaxing on it.

WANDERLUST

Artifact and Nature.

A bee building a cell, a spider's web, a blackbird weaving its nest. Observing these examples people of the Stone Age developed their first construction techniques, weaving branches, stems, plant filaments and animal fibers. A technique that expresses a strong link between Nature and artifact, and occurs in similar forms regardless of the different cultures in which it is used.
In the Mediterranean region, weaving gives shape to fishnets, baskets, wine demijohns (and here’s the link with conviviality and its invitation to sit around a table).
